*Cough*

Big ol gap in posting...Ive since changed jobs and consequently now do more traveling.  Been doing a bunch of freelance work in my extra spare time, so been ultra busy.  I have managed to jam in an hour here and there to paint, so I figured Id line up everything I have finished (except a couple bases) and post an obligatory group shot!

Ezekiel Completed

Finally wrapped him up last night.  What a pain to clip the slotta-base tab and drill out the bottom with a pin vise!  Can't wait to field this guy.  It was a strange existential thing to finally paint a model that I have held on to unpainted since the 90s (haha...insert some sort of 'virginity' joke HERE), but I think he'll look pretty badass on the table so I'm excited.

Mind Worm

Heres a bit more Ezekiel progress.  Shaded the green in the shoulder pads, put some script on purity seals, almost finished up gems on the sword, more work on banner pole (after the picture I added a cluster of purity seals to cover the finecast gap near the bottom), got the base almost finished, picture is not great, but got a lot done on the face as well...lots of just little things left to pull it all together.

"Warp" speed ahead.

Get it?  Cuz hes a psyker...and he harnesses the power of the warp...?  Its #FTPF (Free terrible pun friday)  Well, tomorrow the 7th ed book comes out...I've seen leaked pics that Dark Angel Librarians no longer have access to Divination power, but I still think it will be fun to sling around dice with the new (old) psychic phase.

Anyway, heres my first Librarian.  (I touched up 2 tiny things after I took the pictures, but its pretty close to done at this point)

B- Epistolary Librarius  “Sodiel”   (125)
Power Field Generator, Force Weapon, Terminator Armor & Storm Bolter

Each Librarian will be attached to his own Deathwing squad...In Sodiel's case, he will be accompanying  Brother-Dekel and his men in to battle.

Squad bases!

I had some reservations about these things once I got them in hand.  They felt SO light that I was sure the models would fall over immediately!  I had never used resin bases before so I wasnt sure just what to expect.  After attaching them to the miniatures I actually think they are sturdier and heavier than the normal GW plastic bases.  I was definitely surprised.

They painted up pretty easily...I washed them first and primed them "skeleton bone" from Army Painter.  For some of the models I drilled out holes (in feel and on bases) to pin them on, but I got a bit lazy towards the end and just started super gluing them down when the foot had a nice flat area to rest on.

Actually the part that was a bit disappointing is that the bases are very much 'decorative' at a slight concession towards utility.  Some of the skull piles are so high that its really tough to get a space marine to have a 'realistic' footing on the base.  I'm going to have to get bits out and build the kneeling set of legs to something to fit on one in particular.  Its very likely that some demon or xenos could fit much better, so your mileage my vary.  They definitely give a "Hand me my bolter-holster, its the one that says bad-motherf**ker on it" vibe, so I think I'll be picking another set up.

Bases

Again, these pics are just awful...but here are the first round of bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures.  They have kind of a muddy/bloody pool color in the recesses and I filled the cavities with Woodland Scenics 'Realistic Water' so although it doesnt show in these pictures, theres kind of a cool/clear depth to the bases.  I am a bit concerned that its going to be maybe TOO grim-dark spread out over all the marines...but I suppose we'll see.

-Basecoated in Army Painter 'Skeleton Bone'
-Washed with 'Strong Tone' Amry Painter
-Dry Brushed with GW bleached bone
-Highlighted with Ivory/Bleached bone
-Cavities colored with a mix of red/black washes

Special delivery.

Friday I got in  a bunch of things I ordered online!
-Secret Weapon Miniature bases...5x 40mm & 10x 25mm  "Bone Field"
-10x Horizontal Tactical Squad shoulder pads & 20x Dark Angel Shoulder pads from GW
-4x Dark Vengeance Deathwing squads
-2x Deathwing cyclone missile launchers

First time using the resin bases...they seem SO light that it worries me, but the detail is just great.  The gw shoulder pads are kind of small (which i had heard on forums) but I could easily flare them out some by pressing a tool handle to the back.

Yeesh, time to paint!
